About this episode
A broke documentary crew rents a boat out of Louisiana, and rides twelve miles into the Gulf of Mexico to film the Marisol Grace. She's an abandoned cargo ship whose nineteen crew members vanished six years ago. No birds land on her. Dead fish ring her hull. One plate in the mess hall is still warm. Then the sound guy records sixty seconds of room tone, and somebody breathes on the tape. Room Tone is an original horror story about a haunted ghost ship, a voice in the air vents that knows your secrets, and the thing waiting under the water. It's found footage horror, psychological horror and sea monster horror in one long-form audio story. Fans of The Terror, The Lighthouse, Annihilation, and abandoned ship scary stories will feel right at home. Stick around to the end for a bonus: an original sea shanty about the story, with a fiddle solo. New episodes of original horror fiction every Sometimes on Night Fears Horror Fiction Podcast. Follow so you don't miss the next one. Outro spooky piano music by Michael Hughes Content warning: graphic violence, gore, body horror, strong language, and self-harm imagery (eye injury).
